****SPOILER WARNING!****
Did anyone else think that Barty Crouch, Sr. was a lot nicer in the movie than in the book? He seemed to have more of a personality and sense of humor - he says something funny after he gives the champions their miniature dragon models, like "oooh, look at that!" or something. I forget exactly. He also has that talk with Harry in which he sort of congratulates him on being a champion and tells him that he's doing well. I was sad when he died. I also felt bad for him during the court scene - who would want someone like barty, jr. as a son? In the book, Mr. Crouch is rigid and unforgiving. He is very rule - abiding and a bit severe. We didn't really get this portrayal of him in the movie. I liked the actor who played him very much - he made Crouch likeable, which I suppose was done to make us feel sympathy for him. I think he is somewhat of a tragic character. Anyone else like him in the movie? -------------------- Happily ever after.... Ron Weasley & Hermione (Granger) Weasley

I stepped out of that whole comparing the movie to the book thing. It's only reason to stress out and unnecessary wondering.
Barty sr in the movie, well, he didn't make any impression on me. Mabe it's was his voice, maybe how he presented himself. What I did find weird was the moment when they found him dead and that was it. No explanation...nothing. -------------------- <center>

^ I have to agree. I really wasn't impressed either way about BC Sr. I suppose it was because he wasn't what I would consider a MAJOR character.

I think I am going to have to agree with Chrissie. I always imagined that Barty Crouch was someone who was to be well respected and never to be crossed. I think it was his voice that annoyed me. I do not know what everyone else thinks, but I thought his voice was a little high pitched.

I got the distinct impression that the film makers had taken Barty Snr and Ludo Bagman from the books, jumbled up the characters and ended up with the Barty Snr we see in the film. There were lots of things in the script that Roger Lloyd-Pack said that I thought came straight from the mouth of Ludo Bagman.
Saying that, there were moments when Roger slipped into his character from the comedy "Vicar of Dibley", with some of his tones and phrases. -------------------- "I am Yesterday and Today. I have the power to be born a second time" ~ The Egyptian Book of the Dead

QUOTE I stepped out of that whole comparing the movie to the book thing. It's only reason to stress out and unnecessary wondering. I agree Chrissie, it's really not worth it. Anyway Bart Chrouch snr. freaked me out, not sure why, but just when they pulled the dragons out of the bag he goes "ohhh" and I was like what the hell? lol I thought Roger Lloyd Pack did a good job, even if he was nicer in the film. It still had the same effect on me personally. -------------------- you are my sweetest downfall. <3 |

i didnt even think of comparing him to the character in the book, you are never going to get the characters the way everyone imagined them, its always just how they are interperated. i really dont know what i thought of barty snr
